Associations escalate fight against new lobbying rules

Representatives from the American League of Lobbyists, the American Civil Liberties Union, and Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington met Friday with Norman Eisen, the White House ethics advisor, to press for abatement of lobbying restrictions that were enacted by the Obama administration last month. “It was a very positive, first-step meeting,” said Dave Wenhold, president of ALL and co-founder of the lobbying firm Miller/Wenhold Capitol Strategies. “It was a frank and open discussion.” The meeting follows a March 20 memorandum in which President Obama prohibited lobbyists from meeting in-person or speaking on the telephone with government officials on… Read More
