A trio of chemistry industry associations has announced a new congressional caucus to "help inform members of Congress, their staffs and the public about chemistry's benefits for society and the economy."
The Congressional Chemistry Caucus will officially kick off April 27. The American Chemical Society, American Chemistry Council and National Association of Chemical Distributors are taking a leading role in the formation of the caucus, which will be co-chaired by Reps. John Moolenaar (R-Mich.) and Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.).
According to NACD, the new caucus "will serve as an informal group of members of Congress dedicated to issues related to the transformative science of chemistry and STEM education. The mission of the bipartisan caucus is to educate members, staff and the public on the benefits of chemistry in today's society and its economic impact on our country."
The chemistry caucus will be the most recent addition in a huge list of congressional caucuses, which cover everything from beer makers to space flight.
