CEO DATELINE - Bryce Harlow Foundation names new board members, officers

Two association CEOs have joined the Bryce Harlow Foundation's Board of Governors while two other top executives have assumed leadership positions on the 26-member body.
The foundation announced Jan. 14 that Katherine Lugar, CEO of the American Hotel and Lodging Association, and Jay Timmons, CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers, joined the board. Brett Loper, senior vice president of government affairs, also was named to the board.
Jeff Birnbaum, president of BGR Public Relations, was named board chairman. He replaces Mitch Bainwol, CEO of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers. Craig Purser, CEO of the National Beer Wholesalers Association was appointed vice chairman, and Dawn Sweeney, CEO of the National Restaurant Association, was named secretary/treasurer.
"The Bryce Harlow Foundation continues to draw talented and respected advocates to serve on the board," said Barbara Faculjak, president of the foundation. "Our board members are dedicated to the educational mission of the foundation and serve as excellent role models for Bryce Harlow Fellows, the next generation of government advocates."
The Bryce Harlow Foundation was established in 1981 to promote integrity within the lobbying process and increase the understanding of the role lobbying plays in developing public policy. The organization was named for legendary lobbyist Bryce Harlow, who died in 1987.
