A new association has sprung up in California to represent companies that provide charging equipment and services to owners of electric vehicles.
The Electric Vehicle Charging Association is currently focused on the Golden State, which has the most developed electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the nation. But the association's founders say they plan to promote policies that will promote the adoption of the technology nationwide.
"We embrace the principles of innovation, technology-neutral strategies and customer choice to make charging convenient, ubiquitous, and affordable and to build a positive experience for EV drivers everywhere," the association states on its website.
The association currently lists eight members. It also has issued its first report, which notes that 40 percent of the nation's electronic vehicles are in California.
EVCA's offices are in Sacramento. The association hasn't stated whether it has hired any staff or intends to do so.
The association shouldn't be confused with the Electric Drive Transportation Association, a Washington, D.C.-based group that represents companies that sell and manufacture electric vehicles. www.evassociation.org
