The Society of American Florists has sold its old headquarters and purchased new office space in Alexandria, Va.
The floral industry trade association recently completed the $4.75 million sale of its former home at 1601 Duke St., according to West, Lane & Schlager Realty Advisors, which negotiated the contracts on behalf of SAF. The group has since moved into its new offices at 1001 N. Fairfax St., which it purchased for $2.35 million.
The association had owned the Duke Street building for more than three decades. The new 11,000-square-foot property at Fairfax Street is part of a larger 110,000-square-foot complex near the Potomac River waterfront.
The new offices are smaller but have a more efficient design, SAF and West, Land & Schlager said in a statement. The society expects to reduce its annual occupancy costs as a result of the move.
"SAF is now well positioned with its new office space to meet the needs of the organization for the next decade and beyond," SAF CEO Peter Moran added.
