Hundreds of rail industry representatives—joining forces from at least eight associations—will converge on congressional offices Thursday. That's just one of two dozen or more lobby days or legislative conferences scheduled in Washington, D.C., this week, as spring fly-in season picks up steam.
Sponsors of the annual Railroad Day on Capitol Hill include the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association, the Association of American Railroads and other rail-related associations.
The School Nutrition Association will be visiting congressional offices Tuesday, the final day of its Legislative Action Conference. Advocates will ask lawmakers to increase the per-meal reimbursement for breakfast and lunch by 35 cents, along with other asks. Also on the Hill Tuesday: representatives from food banks and other organizations for the National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference, co-sponsored by Feeding American and the Food Research and Action Center.
Other groups in Washington this week include: American Veterinary Medical Association, American Health Care Association, SHAPE America—the Society of Health and Physical Educators, Small Business Investor Alliance, the American Cable Association and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology.
