Ken Robinson, who led the National Association of Federal Credit Unions for 16 years, died Monday. He was 86. A cause of death was not provided.
Robinson was CEO of the $13 million-revenue association from 1984 to 2000. He joined NAFCU after retiring from a 33-year career in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he rose to the rank of major general.
The association credits Robinson's leadership with spurring growth in staff, membership and political
influence. He played a key role in creation of the Credit Union Campaign for Consumer Choice, which successfully advocated for a new law that guaranteed credit unions could service multiple groups of people instead of a narrowly defined selection of customers.
"General Robinson was an extraordinary leader, a compassionate man and consummate credit union advocate," NAFCU CEO Dan Berger said. "Throughout his 16 years leading NAFCU, he was a true champion, and his efforts culminated in one of the most important legislative campaigns ever waged by the industry." http://bit.ly/1ZMDz2w
