The American Bus Association is not pleased with a prohibition against motorcoaches and charter buses from parking at D.C. Metro stations on Inauguration Day, USA Today reported Thursday.
More than 100,000 people will use buses to travel Washington, D.C., on Jan. 20 for the presidential inauguration, according to the association. However, the D.C. Department of Motor Vehicles requires motorcoaches and buses to obtain $175 parking permits on a first-come, first-time basis. No parking will be allowed from Jan. 19 to 21 at Metro stations, which is a change from past policy.
"The decision to prohibit motorcoach access to all Metrorail facilities, without any coordination with the industry or the traveling public, is extremely disappointing and unnecessary," ABA CEO Peter Pantuso said in a letter to Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority CEO Paul Wiedefeld. "This also is yet another missed opportunity for WMATA to prioritize customer service."
The only charter-bus parking available is at RFK Stadium, the newspaper report. Stadium Armory Station is located near the stadium. http://usat.ly/2jMqzuK
