The American Association of Managing General Agents and National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices have begun talks about a possible merger, the industry news site Insurance Journal reported Friday.
The two associations have formed a joint committee to explore the possibility of becoming a single organization. NAPSLO Executive Director Brady Kelley told the publication that a merger made sense but the committee first needed to draft a proposal to be presented to both organizations' members.
"The committee's job will be to evaluate what a new organization should look like, how it should be governed and how it should function," Kelley said.
AAMGA is a $3 million-revenue association based in King of Prussia, Pa. NAPSLO is a $7 million-revenue organization based in Kansas City, Mo. The groups did not say where the headquarters of the merged association would be located if members approve the agreement. http://bit.ly/2ef9qZQ
