The Chicago-based International Special Events Society has changed its name to the International Live Events Association to reflect the wide range of events members deliver.
The $2 million-revenue group also rolled out a new logo and website along with the name change. In a statement, Jodi Collen, president of ILEA's board of directors, said the new name showcases the global nature of the association.
"The world has changed phenomenally since the International Special Events Society was founded in 1987 and our industry has always kept up and changed with it," she said. "This is the culmination of a process that began several years ago and that will continue as our association continues to evolve."
Coleen added that the term "live" is "quite simply the best way to express and communicate in one powerful word the fantastic energy and clarity that live events, no matter what kind, bring to human communication."
The change from "society" to "association" also was significant because the term better reflects the "close-knit" relationship of its members, she said.
The new website is www.ileahub.com.
