A new trade group has formed to represent the industry behind paid advertising appearing on online search engines such as Google.
The Paid Search Association is a nonprofit organization "dedicated to serving the search-advertising field by drawing on a diverse and expert community of paid search marketers to create programs, services and information products that advance the industry," according to the group's website.
The association officially launched on Oct. 17 with a founding board of directors comprised of 11 paid search marketers.
"These respected leaders in paid search are dedicated to helping our community build an association that offers resources, information and events that matter to members," founding PSA President David Szetela, CEO and owner of pay-per-click ad agency FMB Media, said in a statement.
Paid search advertising became a $127 billion industry this year, according to PSA. The group is based in Tampa, Fla., and does not list any staff on its website.
