Business groups have embraced President Donald Trump's nomination of federal Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court.
"Judge Gorsuch's willingness to challenge the Chevron Doctrine, under which the courts often defer to regulatory agencies on the interpretation of statutes, is a very positive signal to small businesses," said Juanita Duggan, CEO of the $103 million-revenue National Federation of Independent Business, in a statement. "Regulatory overreach is a serious threat and the basis on which NFIB is actively fighting multiple agencies in federal court."
Tom Donohue, CEO of the $271 million-revenue U.S. Chamber of Commerce said in a statement the Senate should quickly confirm the nominee.
"We congratulate Judge Gorsuch and applaud President Trump for quickly naming a Supreme Court justice nominee. The election is over and now it's time for the Senate to act."
The Wall Street Journal reported that in Gorsuch's 10 years on the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver, he compiled a record favoring business in consumer, labor, employment and class-action cases.
