The National Grocers Association will move its annual trade show from Las Vegas to San Diego starting in 2019 to accommodate the need for more convention space.
The association announced Thursday it will hold the NGA Show in San Diego in 2019 and 2020 as a result of the growth in both exhibitors and participants at the event. The next trade show is scheduled for February 2017 at the Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and will feature former House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) as keynote speaker.
"Over the past five years, the interest shown by our trading partners has been tremendous, creating the need for a larger Expo floor," NGA COO Matt Ott said. "We look forward to expanding and diversifying exhibitors on the Expo floor to provide attendees with multiple opportunities to view and research new products and services for their business."
NGA didn't say where in San Diego the show would be held.
While NGA's trade show is experiencing growing pains, other associations can't say the same. Both the Food Marketing Institute and NCTA—The Internet & Television Association recently announced they were ending their annual trade shows to focus on smaller events. http://bit.ly/2e9oYN1
