The Specialty Graphic Imaging Association has rebranded its trade show to settle a lawsuit brought by another association claiming trademark infringement.
Last year, SGIA and the business-to-business media company NAPCO Worldwide unveiled a new event for the North American printing industry named PRINT United. The Association for Print Technologies then sued the two organizations for trademark infringement and unfair competition. APT's own annual event is named PRINT.
SGIA and NAPCO denied liability, but to resolve the dispute they agreed to change the name of the event to PRINTING United. The new show will launch in October 2019 in Dallas.
"PRINTING United will be a ‘one roof' experience where all printing solutions can be evaluated, resulting in a much higher return on investment for exhibitors and attendees alike," the two organizations said in a joint statement. http://bit.ly/2JjzgJr
