The National Restaurant Association has leased 51,000 square feet in Chicago's tallest skyscraper, Crain's Chicago Business reported.
NRA's headquarters is in Washington, D.C. The group has roughly 240 employees with 165 staff in Chicago, mainly to support the association's annual trade show, held in the city. The Chicago office currently is at 175 W. Jackson Blvd. but staff will move to the 36th floor of Willis Tower in December.
Willis Tower is the 108-story building formerly known as Sears Tower. At 1,451 feet in height, the skyscraper is the second tallest building in the U.S. after One World Trade Center in New York City.
"The Willis Tower offers us a fresh environment for hosting industry events, accessing services that help our employees gain greater satisfaction out of their workdays, and supporting a wide variety of restaurants and entertainment planned just floors below us," NRA CEO Dawn Sweeney said in a statement.
Willis Tower owner Blackstone Group recently announced a $500 million renovation project for the building, which is scheduled to be completed by 2019. http://bit.ly/2l3X0ky
