The Student & Youth Travel Association has dropped an Ohio-based student tour agency from its membership after the business allegedly took money from parents and schools but never provided promised services, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Monday.
Discovery Tours was recently sued by the Ohio Attorney General's Office after the tour agency declared bankruptcy and canceled several school field trips. The company is accused of defaulting on its contractual obligations after defaulting on spring tours for about 5,600 students in nine Ohio counties, according to the newspaper.
Discovery Tours has since been dropped from SYTA's membership. Executive Director Carylann Assante told the Plain Dealer the tour agency's membership was ended for not adhering to the association's code of ethics and failing to complete annual renewable membership papers.
The association has 147 tour-operator member companies and 724 associate members, the newspaper reported. http://bit.ly/2k2E341
