Banks, credit unions: Target breach cost $200 million Last year's theft of credit and debit card data from millions of Target store customers has cost financial institutions more than $200 million, according to new figures released by the Consumer Bankers Association and Credit Union National Association. So far, cards replaced by CBA members and credit unions account for more than half of all affected cards, according to the associations.
