Swipe fee battle moves to states Many states are considering laws banning retailers from charging customers extra when they use their credit cards, thanks in part to a push by the banking industry and its allies, Bloomberg News recently reported. Utah has already passed legislation and New Jersey may soon follow. Twenty state legislatures are currently considering adopting the bans, according to the American Bankers Association.
