Governors, state lawmakers urge Congress to pass Internet sales tax States could reap $23 billion in uncollected tax revenue if Congress passes legislation giving them the authority to collect sales taxes from out-of-state Internet purchases, the two organizations representing the nation's governors and state legislatures said Wednesday. According to the news site Stateline, the National Governors Association and the National Conference of State Legislatures urged the U.S. House of Representatives to pass an Internet sales tax bill before the end of the year.
