Meat industry loses second round in country-of-origin labeling case A federal appeals court has upheld government rules requiring country-of-origin labels on meat products, dealing a blow to several industry associations that had sought to strike down the program. The American Meat Institute and seven other meat and livestock groups sued the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 2013, arguing that the labeling program violated their members' First Amendment rights.
