Air traffic control towers to remain open The Federal Aviation Administration announced Friday it will not close 149 contract air traffic control towers, reversing a decision that had led to a lawsuit by the American Association of Airport Executives. The agency had planned to close the towers by June 15 to comply with budget sequestration.
