Diabetes group head optimistic on health care, research

The American Diabetes Association, under the leadership of Larry Hausner, is poised to make significant policy gains for its stakeholders. ADAs latest win came in the first two months of the Obama administration, when the ban on federal funding of stem cell research was lifted. And now, the ADA has a seat at the table to help the White House reform health care in the U.S. Treating, diagnosing and preventing diabetes should be near the top of the White Houses priorities, because one in five health care dollars is spent on treating someone with diabetes, Hausner said.
