While Big Oil set record-breaking profits as gasoline topped $4 a gallon this summer, the Petroleum Marketers Association of America has been actively trying to distance itself from the large, integrated public oil companies. The confusion—PMAA doesn’t represent oil companies. In contrast, the tiny $1.5 million federation is comprised of nearly 50 state and regional associations that represent marketing companies who bring wholesale and retail petroleum products—including heating oil, kerosene and gasoline—to market.
