Humphreys to step down after 11 years as CEO and more than four decades with home builders group Humphreys Fred Humphreys, CEO of the Home Builders Institute, will retire Dec. 31 after more than 40 years with the organization, HBI announced June 16. Humphreys has been with HBI since its inception four decades ago and has served as its CEO since 2000. HBI is an affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders.
