Chamber, CDW challenge NLRB appointments

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace which represents many major trade associations—have brought a new challenge to the constitutionality of President Barack Obama's three Jan. 4 recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board. On March 15, the two groups filed a motion to intervene in the case of Noel Canning v. National Labor Relations Board, pending before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

Commerce Department sets solar tariffs

A coalition of seven U.S. solar equipment makers scored a victory March 20 when the Commerce Department decided to impose tariffs on Chinese solar panels. The group, calling itself the Coalition for American Solar Manufacturing, accused China of dumping solar panels and cells in the U.S. and illegally subsidizing its industry. The coalition is led by SolarWorld Industries America, a subsidiary of German company SolarWorld.
