Ethanol group shoots back at oil industry in new ad campaign An ad campaign launched Monday by ethanol advocacy group Growth Energy is taking direct aim at the oil industry and its efforts to kill the federal Renewable Fuel Standard. The RFS requires that a certain percentage of ethanol be blended with gasoline. Lately several groups representing oil interests—such as the American Petroleum Institute—have ramped up their efforts to get lawmakers to ax the mandate.
