Recording industry group names Sherman to top slot

Sherman The $35 million-revenue Recording Industry Association of America promoted Cary Sherman to chairman and CEO after former CEO Mitch Bainwol left to lead the $29 million-revenue Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers Sept. 1. Sherman, RIAA’s former president, is credited with playing a major role in RIAA’s recent anti-piracy agreement with large Internet service providers such as Verizon and Comcast. He has been with the group since 1997.
