Lobbyists are shown to donate little to federal candidates

A review of LD-203 disclosure forms filed with Congress in January, the second-ever wave submitted by lobbyists and organizations, indicates that most lobbyists did not contribute to federal candidates in the last six months of 2008. CEO Update research shows that out of the 33 registered lobbyists for the National Association of Manufacturers, for example, only six gave personal funds to congressional or presidential candidates. Only 13 of the 89 registered lobbyists for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce contributed their own money to candidates, with the majority of contributions being less than $250.
