In March, Peter ONeil was promoted to the job he has been prepping forexecutive director of the $16 million American Industrial Hygiene Association. And he had plenty of company in 2009. Internal candidates at national associations and nonprofits vying for the top job had a standout year, landing the CEO position 26 percent of the time, more than double the rate in the last 15 years.
