Associations more cautious about political conventions
With growing anti-lobbyist sentiment from the public and brand new ethics rules, many predict fewer parties at this summers political conventions. Leaders of nonprofits in the Northeast, and of largest groups, tend to earn higher salaries, according to the Charity Navigator study. The top executives of U.S. charitable nonprofits received a meager average raise of 2.55 percent since last year, earning an average salary of $148,972, according to Charity Navigators CEO Compensation Study released Aug. 1.

Nonprofits and associations must begin using the new form in 2009 to report on their 2008 tax year and they will be reporting more information than ever, according to the IRS, to increase transparency, promote tax compliance, and minimize burden.
