Fire Chiefs Promotes Light to CEO
Mark W. Light was promoted to executive director of the $10 million revenue International Association of Fire Chiefs on May 20. The appointment of Light, IAFCs former deputy director, ends a search started in February.

Amortizing his paycheck over 12 months, it looks like the CEO of PhRMA actually made less in 2006 than the previous year, according to the trade groups recently released 2006 tax records. Tauzin pocketed about $127,500 a month, or $1.53 million, plus $73,000 in benefits in 2006. But during PhRMAs 2005 fiscal year, the former congressman raked in $183,333 a month, or $1.1 million for six months of work.

The Federal Communications Commission and Congress can expect visits from new coalitions interested in molding the Internet, including the Open Internet Coalition (OIC) and the Coalition of Organizations for Accessible Technology (COAT). The OIC is advocating affordable high-speed Internet access for all Americans and the need for a national broadband policy, and COAT, formed in March, seeks broadband and wireless web-access for people with disabilities.
