Recent superstorm reinforces the view that associations need to hedge their bets when hosting conferences, trade shows. Even as Hurricane Sandy came barreling toward the East Coast, more than 2,000 emergency managers from the U.S. and abroad were gathering in Orlando, Fla., for the International Association of Emergency Managers annual conferenceand IAEM CEO Beth Armstrong knew it wasnt the time to quibble over last-minute cancellations.
