Red Cross CEO resigns

CEO of the American Red Cross, Mark Everson, abruptly resigned Tuesday because of a relationship with a subordinate employee. He led the charity since May 29, 2007.Upon discovering he “engaged in a personal relationship with a subordinate employee,” the Red Cross board of governors requested Everson’s resignation and appointed Mary S. Elcano, general counsel, as interim President and CEO, according to a Red Cross press release.The board has already formed a search committee to find the next leader.
