Academy of Actuaries leader steps down after 11 months

Grace Hinchman, CEO of the American Academy of Actuaries, resigned from the organization in early April. Hinchman tendered her resignation abruptly during a regional conference the Academy was holding March 29-April 1 in Washington D.C. Mary Downs, general counsel of the Academy since 2006, will serve as interim executive director while the association launches a search for a new leader, according to a news release. Hinchman had only served with the organization for 11 months. She was selected in May 2008 to succeed Kevin Cronin, who retired after three years leading the group.
