American Heart Association promotes Brown to CEO

Longtime chief operating officer named as successor to M. Cass Wheeler, the retiring head of the $667 million, Dallas-based national organization. (Updated) The American Heart Association selected Chief Operating Officer Nancy A. Brown, to succeed M. Cass Wheeler, who is retiring as chief executive officer after 11 years. The group’s national board of directors selected Brown at a meeting Oct. 29 at AHA’s Dallas National Center. She is the first female to lead the organization, founded in 1924.
