Broadcasters name former U.S. senator as next CEO

The appointment is effective as of Nov. 1. Smith replaces David Rehr, who served as CEO since 2005 and announced his resignation in May of this year. Janet McGregor, NAB’s chief operating and financial officer, served as interim head after Rehr’s departure. Smith, 57, served in the U.S. Senate from 1996 to 2008.
