The members of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association and the Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance have voted to meld the groups into a single organization, which will be named the Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance, the groups announced Aug. 1.
AAMA and IGMA announced unification discussions a year ago with the goal of creating a new organization that can better serve the North American window, door and skylight industry. Both associations are currently based in Illinois.
"The value of the new organization will be a stronger industry voice, offering members and the industry single-source access to critical information," said AAMA Board Chairman Donnie Hunter said in a statement.
The two boards of the associations plan to begin hammering out a unification plan this month, with a strategic planning meeting scheduled for October to blend the vision and priorities of the two groups into a single document to cover the next three to five years. The groups did not announce any staffing changes that could take place as a result of the merger.
