Four association executives will join the board of directors for ASAE and the ASAE Foundation later this year, the organization announced Monday.
The nominees are Carla Balakgie, CEO of NAMA (National Automatic Merchandising Association); Stephen Stahr, CEO of Million Dollar Round Table; Rita Chen Fujisawa, vice president and COO of the California Association of Health Facilities; and Jeffrey Shields, CEO of the National Business Officers Association. Fujisawa and Shields have also been nominated to the ASAE Foundation board.
The new board will be officially installed and join the remaining board members at the 2019 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition, August 10-13, in Columbus.
"The ASAE nominating committee selected a group of association leaders from diverse backgrounds who are proven champions of the association community dedicated to creating dialogue and action on issues that impact the profession. We're thankful for their commitment to ASAE and the association community," said ASAE Chair Sal Martino, CEO of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
ASAE's board members serve three-year terms. Rotating off the board this year are Debra BenAvram, CEO of AABB (previously the American Association of Blood Banks); Vicki Deal-Williams, chief staff officer for multicultural affairs at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association; and Matt Loeb, interim executive director of the Biomedical Engineering Society.
The board leadership will also change, with current board leaders rotating into new roles. Current chair-elect Patricia Blake, CEO of the Heart Rhythm Society, will transition to chair. Secretary-treasurer Steve Caldeira, CEO of the Household & Commercial Products Association, will become chair-elect and chair of the ASAE Foundation. Steve Anderson, CEO of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, will become secretary-treasurer. Anderson would have rolled off the board this year but has instead been nominated to serve another three-year term.
