Tax reform and government attendance at meetings remain the key public policy issues at American Associations Day this week, organized by ASAE. More than 200 executives, from 35 states, are set to attend the fly-in. Talking points also include the impact of associations nationwide and in their home states and congressional districts.
CEOs scheduled to talk with the group Wednesday include John Graham of ASAE, Matthew D'Uva of SOCAP International, Susan Neely of the American Beverage Association and Paul Pomerantz of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Three Republican congressmen are this year's recipients of Sentinel awards for their support of the association community: Kevin Brady of Texas, David Joyce of Ohio and Peter Roskam of Illinois. Hill visits are Thursday. The "Power of A" hashtag for the event is #pwra.
At least a dozen other associations are holding fly-ins or legislative conferences with their members. They include several medical and health-related groups, including the Association of Community Cancer Centers, LeadingAge, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Hospital Association.
A number of scientific and technology associations are participating in "STEM on the Hill" Tuesday and Wednesday. They include the American Astronomical Society and The Optical Society.
Other groups on the Hill this week: National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials, National Apartment Association, American Association of Law Libraries, Aeronautical Repair Station Association, American Water Works Association. The Council on Foundations and the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers are jointly holding "Foundations on the Hill."
