The National Association of Insurance Commissioners has recruited one of the stars of the television show "Breaking Bad" to educate millennials about the need to carry insurance.
RJ Mitte—who played Walter "Flynn" White Jr. on "Breaking Bad"—will star in a series of videos "to encourage young people to get smart about insurance before something bad happens."
Mitte, 22, has cerebral palsy, which forced him to deal with health insurance from a young age, according to NAIC. He also was involved in two auto accidents a few years ago.
"I wasn't at fault, and luckily no one was hurt. I had the information to make the right insurance decision before I needed it," he said. "But many people my age can't say that."
NAIC said many millennials don't make insurance a priority because they assume nothing bad will happen to them, or they undervalue their possessions, or they simply procrastinate.
The association is planning to release three "Bad Breaks" videos starring Mitte. The first focuses on auto insurance while the other two will deal with protecting possessions and panic-free insurance planning.
