The Computing Technology Industry Association and the Association for Career & Technical Education will work together on new programs and strategies designed to prepare more people for careers in technology occupations, the two groups announced Thursday.
CompTIA represents information technology professionals while ACTE represents professionals in career and technical education. Both associations noted that nearly 10 percent of all job postings in the U.S. during the third quarter of 2019 were for IT jobs.
"Together we intend to address the tech industry's current and future needs for high-skilled workers equipped with the classroom training, hands-on experience and professional certifications that prepare them to be strong contributors from day one on the job," Amy Kardel, CompTIA's vice president for strategic workforce relationships, said in a statement.
Under the agreement, ACTE instructors will have access to CompTIA training materials. Instructors will also be able to join the CompTIA Instructor Network, a global community of educators who prepare students for careers in tech. In addition, students will have access to CompTIA learning materials such ebooks and lab preparation materials.
"The technology workforce is critical to today's economy, and with this partnership both organizations will help strengthen the talent pipeline and improve learners' access to key resources," ACTE Executive Director LeAnn Wilson said. https://prn.to/2PdbjEG
