The International Festivals & Events Association has partnered with an online platform provider to give people in the events industry a secure means to report incidents of sexual harassment.
Under the agreement with WeVow, IFEA members will be provided a custom URL in which individuals can report sexual harassment, receive custom-branded signage for workplaces and events, get training for key event staff and volunteers, and qualify for counseling for internal staff members, according to an association statement.
WeVow is a Boise, Idaho-based company that provides businesses and organizations a secure online platform through which employees can report sexual harassment. The company also provides counseling. Prices for the service range from $30 to $6,000 per month or more, depending on the size of the organization. Terms of the agreement with IFEA were not disclosed.
"As we track the trends and issues across the global festivals and events, we have been disappointed to find far too many headlines in recent years covering sexual misconduct at events," IFEA CEO Steve Schmader said in a statement. "And while the most prominent media coverage is usually focused on the larger music festival niche of our industry, the reality is that sexual misconduct can happen at events of all types, genres, and sizes, just as it can within all size businesses, corporations and organizations."
IFEA is also based in Boise and represents events professionals as well as industry vendors and suppliers. http://bit.ly/2HNdVpc
