With summer officially underway this week, the number of fly-ins and lobby days are tapering off. Still at least 10 associations will send advocates to Capitol Hill during the next few days.
The TESOL International Association—a professional organization for people who teach English to speakers of other languages—will visit congressional offices Tuesday. About 75 people are attending the advocacy and policy summit.
Forty children with medically complex conditions will visit Capitol Hill, along with their families, as part of the Children's Hospital Association's annual Speak Now for Kids Family Advocacy Day. The families will ask lawmakers to support the Advancing Care for Exceptional Kids Act, aimed at improving care for children in the Medicaid program.
The Society for Human Resource Management and its affiliate, the Council for Global Immigration, will hold an advocacy day Wednesday. SHRM is also holding its annual conference and exposition in Washington, D.C., this week.
The National Federation of Independent Business holds its Voice of Small Business DC Fly-in this week. Thursday is Legislative Day for Associated Builders and Contractors.
Other groups holding lobby days include the American Nurses Association and Financial Planning Association.
