CEO DATELINE - Fly-ins this week: NAFCU, Confectioners, a medical research rally

A look at groups bringing members to Washington, D.C.
Advocates for confectioners, credit unions and Christian schools converge on Capitol Hill, as part of more than a dozen fly-ins and related events this week. Also on the schedule: A Rally for Medical Research that boasts more than 300 partnering organizations.
The National Confectioners Association will release new statistics on the economic impact of the candy industry—the "power of sweet"— during a media event at the Newseum Thursday. NCA members will then visit congressional offices.
The American Association for Cancer Research is the founding organizer of the Rally for Medical Research, with Hill visits scheduled for Thursday. Top sponsors of the rally include AACR, Research!America and Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America.
The National Association of Federal Credit Unions holds its annual Congressional Caucus this week. Key issues include data security and retaining the tax exemption for credit unions. General sessions will feature about 30 speakers from Congress and federal agencies.
Also holding fly-ins or events this week: American Association of Christian Schools, Public Housing Authorities Directors Association, Association of Progressive Rental Organizations, Wood Machinery Manufacturers of America, National Association of Electrical Distributors, National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association, Electronic Transactions Association, Motorcycle Industry Council, American Wire Producers Association, American Telemedicine Association and Employee-owned S Corporations of America.
