Health insurer Humana has pulled out of America's Health Insurance Plans, the third large insurer to leave the group since 2015, industry news site Healthcare Insurance reported Wednesday.
Humana has not actively participated in AHIP since early 2017, an association spokesman told the news site. The company is the fourth largest U.S. health insurer by market share, according to Zane Benefits.
UnitedHealthcare, the nation's largest health insurer, left AHIP in 2015. A few months later, insurer Aetna also pulled out of the group. The association faced questions at the time about its political effectiveness given the departures, but the group noted it has added new members since then, including WellCare Health Plans and Sutter Health. http://bit.ly/2CQbWN1
