A coalition of health insurance companies, hospital chains and undisclosed donors is running ads on TV in Iowa and on Facebook attacking the health care programs proposed by various Democratic presidential candidates.

According to the website OpenSecrets.org, the Partnership for America's Health Care Future is organized under Section 501(c)(4) of the federal tax code, shielding it from funding disclosure requirements, and its official office address is a co-working space in Washington, D.C.

Members include the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America and the Federation of American Hospitals. A typical PAHCF Facebook post, dated Aug. 11, asserts that a "new Navigant Health study finds that 58% of rural Iowa hospitals could be put at high risk of closure under a new government insurance system—threatening access to quality care that Iowans rely on." The PAHCF Facebook page's motto is "Working to improve what's working in health care and fix what's not."
