Called "This is Our Shot," the initiative is meant to encourage manufacturing team members, their families and communities to get vaccinated, and includes a video titled, "I Love Frank," in which co-workers and friends tell each other they are getting vaccinated out of concern for others. It's the first of a series of such public service announcements that will run on social media and digital platforms, the NAM said. Other components of the campaign include a "Yellow and Red Ribbon initiative for vaccinated individuals to show their peers they're a part of the fight."
"One hundred million people have now been impacted by this horrible disease," NAM CEO Jay Timmons said in a statement. "Asking all Americans to roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated against COVID-19 is a pivotal step toward stopping this upward trend, putting millions of people back to work and eradicating this virus."
Timmons' father, Warner Timmons, died of the virus Dec. 15.
"This Is Our Shot" follows on the NAM's yearlong campaign to encourage people to stay safe and slow the spread of the virus by following CDC guidelines on social distancing and wearing masks. The new push also includes an online vaccine information hub at NAM.org/ThisIsOurShot.
