Run an association long enough and you will get a building named in your honor, or at least that is the case for current AMGA CEO Donald Fisher.
AMGA announced Friday that its board of directors has dedicated the association's headquarters building at One Prince St. in Alexandria, Va., to Fisher, who has led the group for 35 years. AMGA previously stood for the American Medical Group Association, but the association decided earlier this year to use its acronym as its brand.
"As AMGA's leader for more than 35 years, Don has had a lasting impact on the organization, its members, and the larger healthcare community," board president Donn Sorensen said in a statement. "While we anticipate many more years of achievements during Don's tenure, the board of directors felt 35 years of exemplary leadership and service was truly a great accomplishment."
Fisher began his tenure at AMGA in October 1980. The association credits his leadership with helping turn AMGA into "the premier voice for medical groups and integrated systems of care in the U.S."
"I am truly humbled by this honor," Fisher said. "Though this plaque has my name on it, it represents all that we have accomplished together to advance health care. We have made and will continue to make a difference." http://bit.ly/1YeIZ3A
