The National Association of Manufacturers said July 9 it is seeking to raise $10 million or more for its new Creators Wanted Fund, "to inspire and drive more Americans to pursue careers in modern manufacturing." The campaign will run in 2020 ahead of the elections and will also mark the 125th anniversary of the association.

NAM said the member-driven campaign will send out a mobile exhibit on modern manufacturing to parents and students in 20 to 25 states over 18 weeks, alongside a year-long digital advertising campaign, and will host a "Making America Festival" in Cincinnati in September, 2020.
Goals include cutting the skills gap by 600,000 workers by 2025. That would reduce by one-quarter the 2.4 million manufacturing jobs expected to go begging for want of skilled workers by 2028, according to an estimate from a study by The Manufacturing Institute and Deloitte.
