Eight associations representing renewable energy producers recently issued a joint statement outlining what they said is a "positive vision" for the future of the U.S. power grid.
In "A Shared Vision for the 21st Century Grid," the groups advocate for market structures that allow renewable energy to thrive, tax reform that protects current incentives for renewable power, and expansion and modernization of the nation's power grid.
"Our vision of the future power grid promises economic savings, improved reliability, greater access to electric power, environmental improvement, and more diverse choices for consumers and producers of electric power," the groups said.
The joint statement comes as Trump administration has proposed deep cuts in federal spending for renewable energy programs and research. The groups have also had to contend with attempts by federal lawmakers to rollback tax credits for renewable energy investments.
The American Council on Renewable Energy, Biomass Power Association, National Hydro Power Association, American Biogas Council, Energy Recovery Council, Solar Energy Industries Association, American Wind Energy Association and Geothermal Energy Association signed the statement. http://bit.ly/2sU56Vx
